John 6

Jesus claims in chapter 26 that the people were seeking him for the food not for his miracles. He asks his people to seek him because of Gods work, not for something that parishes but for something that is everlasting. He says to them that they are longing for simple things, but that they should long for the bread of God.

What Jesus means by being the "bread of life" is eternal life and salvation. He is asking that we come to him for things larger than our immediate needs. I think about how I seek Jesus for fellowship, trust, love, forgiveness, and encouragement. So many times people reach for God for an immediate fix, but what he asks of us is to believe and trust in him and seek eternal life.
